…“Pavlos Argyropoulos, Fanny Argyropoulos and Andreas Pantos have created a modern vineyard that writes its own unconventional rules”.
"From the very first moment, we decided to go wherever our wine curiosity leads us. This often makes our wines special and potentially many labels may not address everyone. But we know that the road to exceptional wine requires you to flirt with the exceptions."
Pavlos Argyropoulos and Andreas Pantos decided in 2006, after years each in the wine business, to start "Pieria Eratini Winery". A modern Greek vineyard that writes its own rules for wine in our country. The daughter of Pavlos, Fanny, has now joined the game, bringing a fresh perspective to an already different project.
"Pieria Eratini Winery" was born after 25 years of winemaking in vineyards such as Rapsani, Amyndeon, Naoussa and Mount Athos, but also abroad, in France at Châteauneuf-du-Pape and Champagne, having carried out production management, quality control and many other key winemaking processes. That's when we decided to create our own winery," Pavlos describes.
“Naked King”wine, was the vineyard's first signature wine. A wine of exceptional concentration and depth, after a long maturation in French oak barrels.
But why did they denude the king?
"We create names that narrate a story and describe our vision. For example, the Naked King is the result of a challenge to whether we could make great wine again from scratch, naked, without the laurels of the past," Pavlos explains.
They can be found in selected wine cellars, restaurants and hotels through the distributor Aiolos Wines in Greece, while the team participates in wine exhibitions and at the same time organizes wine tastings for which you can find out about via Facebook and Instagram. Also distributed internationally * Germany Atlas Gmbh * France Millesima * USA Cava Oinos
"The Winery's labels, have a particular richness of flavour and high concentration of aromas, creating a recognisable, we would say, style. Our philosophy is fewer grapes per acre, which will give a more intense character also known as low yielding vineyards," Andreas emphasizes.
"We owe a lot to the regions terroir as well. The incredible diversity of Pieria and the harmonious coexistence of many elements of nature make it unique," Fanny continues. "Mountain ranges, rivers, old-growth trees and deep gorges that criss-cross the landscape, combined with the coastal front, all together, create a stunning place. It is no coincidence that it was called the dwelling place of the gods in ancient times. Pieria has the perfect characteristics for a vineyard.
-But what is it about this work that will always interest them? What ultimately led them to the creation of the "Pieria Eratini Winery"?
"The search for the ultimate harmony. Seeing the world through the taste and complexity of aromas. The story hidden in a bottle. The wine worth waiting for. The diversity that this work hides," they conclude.
